Fundamental Analysis (Management Team) Part 2

It is also important to have a well trained and good management team in order for the company to gain profit. If a product the company is selling is one of the best, but the management isn't bad, do you think the company will make much profit compare to a company which is doing the same product and having a good management team?

In the management team, you would need to spot how much experience do the board of directors have, what relationship do they have, like government related, foreign talents. I will go through more examples in the future then you will know what to look out for in the management team.

Tay Wee Kwang
Mr Tay has been instrumental in developing the Group’s mechanical & electrical engineering business in the PRC. His experience spans more than 17 years of engineering and project management in Singapore and the PRC. (Experiences in both Singapore and PRC, he will be able to work with PRC smoothly)

Koo Ah Seang
He has played a pivotal role in turning around the Group’s business by spearheading its diversification into renewable energy as a new core business segment. (Good marketing Ideas)

Chiah Kok Khun
He is Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of both the Nominating Committee and Remuneration Committee. Mr Chiah is an advocate & solicitor and a partner of a law firm in Singapore. Prior to joining the firm in 1992, he worked as a judicial officer in the Singapore Legal Service and has served as Magistrate, Deputy Registrar of the Subordinate Courts, Coroner, President of the Juvenile Court and Referee of the Small Claims Tribunal. (Consider to have relationship with the government and knows the laws very well)

How Peck Huat
Mr How has been an Independent Director of the Group since 5 May 2004. He serves as Chairman of the Nominating Committee, and is a member of both the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee.

Mr How has held a variety of senior appointments in public service, particularly at the Economic Development Board. He was the Managing Director of Temasek Holdings, Hong Kong/ East Asia, from 1998 to 2003, and has also held directorships in financial-based companies. Mr How presently resides in Hong Kong, where he is an Advisor to Management Capital Limited and a Director of two other companies. (In the government body and have relationship with Temasek Holdings)
